Winter Daze....

The Winter Days keep dragging by making me feel like I'm in a daze....but then I remember I have an energetic, playful, delightful 5 month old baby who makes for never having a dull moment. In the pictures you can see Owen reading a book with Daddy and most of the time, he actually pays attention;) Also you can see him playing in his exersaucer, goofing around with putting on Daddy's hat and giving Mommy a sly little smile. Owen gets stronger and bigger everyday. As you can see in the one video that he will sit all by himself for a short bit while playing--the video I got of him today was one of the longest times he's ever sat and played by himself, and he even turned to look at me and kept himself steady. The other video is of Owen in his crib when he watches his mobile--as you can see he gets quite excited, almost woost if you will. We had his appointment to evaluate his head shape at Mary Free Bed Hospital last week and in all of his head measurements he was normal except for one...which was off the charts but the orthotics guy said at this point a need for a helmet would be strictly cosmetic and so he left it up to us to decide....and we decided not to get a helmet. If Owen becomes a model some day and can't advance in his career due to his imperfect head shape, he can certainly blame us for not getting him a helmet:) He also had a Physical Therapy appointment to evaluate for torticollis as that also sometimes goes along with having a flat head shape. Torticollis is when the neck muscles are kind of stronger on one side of the neck than the other, causing a tilt in the head and lack of ability to move equally well from left to right. Well, he definately didn't have that but they did find his left side was slightly stronger than the right and only a minor difference between the two....maybe we have a lefty???!!! Anyway, they recommended 6-8 weeks of physical therapy for this but it really doesn't look like much of a problem and they kept saying it was such a minor differene....may I ask what kid, person, adult doesn't have at least a minor difference in strenght from left to right....so we may opt out of that as well. Otherwise we are good and thankful we don't have as bad of weather as they have in Iowa:)
