Wow, the title says lots of pictures and indeed there are. I initially was just going to quick put up a video of Owen as he was mimicking the actions to the DVD he was watching last night of Steve Green singing some songs with kids. Owen LOVES this DVD and we've seen it close to a billion times and last night he got all excited and starting kind of doing the actions to the song "And Jesus Grew"...it was so cute! While I was putting that up I decided I'd put up pictures of our quick mini vacation to Mackinaw City/ Mackinack Island last weekend. This is by far one of my most favorite places in Michigan. It's about 4 hours north of here on the very tippy top of Michigan where the Mackinaw bridge is that would take you into the Upper Penisula of Michigan. Mackinack Island is a little island that is about an 18 minute ferry ride from Mackinaw City. Owen did really well on the ferry (see picture of he and Mommy)--he was a little scared at first but did fine. I was worried about him getting sick as it was REALLY windy that day and the boat was a rockin'! Anyway, on this island there are NO motorized vehicles of any kind. The only transportation on the island is 1) your own two feet, 2) bicycle or 3) horse drawn carriage. It's so quaint and beautiful...I love it. We brought our bikes and it was a great way to see the island. There is a large path that goes around the perimeter of the island that is really quite easy and relaxing to bike and you can see us on the path in some of the pictures. The beautiful blue waters of Lake Huron are surrounding us. On the ride we found a lovely old church called Saint Anne's that was founded by missionaries on the island years and years ago. We then saw the stairs to arch rock. As we climbed the stairs, we felt a bit like we were in a funhouse because they built the stairs with the lay of the land, so you're kind of climbing them sideways. We took a picture of Arch rock and the view looking out over the water and looking down through the rock to the bike path we were on below. I also too a picture looking up at Arch Rock from below while we were on the bike path. Jamie had a great idea halfway through the ride to "take a short cut" through the middle of the island, which meant a large uphill climb! YUK! Before we took this detour I took one more picture out over the water and you can faintly see the Mackinaw Bridge in the background. The other great thing about Mackinack Island is there world know fudge--yum, yum. There are fudge shops everywhere and you can stop and watch them making fudge and we found out that it is a bonus to bring a cute little boy b/c they give you lots of free samples. We got Owen a chocolate covered Oreo and you can tell from the picture that he really enjoyed it. If you ever come to Michigan, we should really get up North to Mackinack Island...it's soooo wonderful!
