It's August already...wow, where did the Summer go to. The month of August means I now have a 3 month old baby girl, a nearly 2 year old little boy, I am almost 32, and I've been back to work for almost 2 weeks. The first week back to work was a little rough--Owen got a fever, so he couldn't go to daycare and in addition to Emrey getting up at night, he was up at night. It took Emrey and the sitter a bit to adjust to each other--she didn't nap hardly at all the first 2 days there and then would sleep for 2 and half hours when she got home. Since Owen couldn't go on Wednesday with his fever, we just sent Emrey. This gave her and our babysitter a chance to figure each other out a bit and since then, things have gone much better. Emrey in general is very content and laid back, super smiley and just an all around good baby. She is doing better at night and will have some good 5-6 hour stretches every now and then but she has still has a ways to go, but we won't complain given her pleasant, happy demeanor. Owen is full of energy and trying to climb and jump off anything and everything he can. He talks and talks--some of it actual words and some of it only words that Owen knows. He is getting more stubborn in ways and still very sweet at times--especially to his baby sister. Instead of just calling her "Baby" he now calls her "Emmy". He loves to try to hold her and snuggle her, as you can see on the pictures. He had a great time in Iowa in July with his Grandparents and cousins and we were thankful he was a lot happier this time than when we were there in December. We have a lot of events going on in August, including planning a 2nd birthday party for Owen that will small but sweet with his Uncle John, Auntie Carissa and Uncle Kurt, his cousins Trenton and Hayden, and of course Mommy, Daddy and Emmy--should be a good time! I hope to get a Thomas the Train cake and just blue balloons for decorations--I think those two things alone will thrill him. Hopefully it won't take too long for me to post pictures of the party after we have it...we shall see!
